English summary

Interim management often gives out a negative impression, as it is thought to be related with severe changes in the organisation and with staff reduction.

The Bridge Manager, ( in Dutch:  Inspringmanager) however, has a much less interfering approach. His aim is to combine the abilities of the resident staff with his own organisational skills. This results in a positive atmosphere of respect and dedication of all, to bridge the gap between the current and the desired mode of operation. I.e. the replacement or the appointment of a new manager.

In addition, the Bridge Manager can prepare the organisational structure and mitigate the attitudes of existing staff for new ways of operating. This will be based on information obtained from the current staff and its management.

The Bridge Manager's experience with "turn-around" or restructuring processes in several major companies has convinced him that a mild approach to changing an organisation, with the co-operation of all involved, is much more effective and sustainable than the often used aggressive ways of imposing structural change.  It may take more effort to make everyone more in the same direction, but this effort will be rewarded by the general support of all involved.
